An Ohio couple, identified as 29-year-old Gannon Jacox and 28-year-old Brooklyn Hicks, was arrested at Port Canaveral, Florida, after allegedly forcing their way into a family’s cruise ship cabin and assaulting three people—including a 9-year-old child.
How the Altercation Unfolded
According to Brevard County Sheriff Wayne Ivey, the chaotic scene began when the heavily intoxicated couple was arguing loudly in the hallway. When one of the victims politely asked them to keep the noise down, the situation quickly turned ph
Fortunately, the family members did not sustain serious injuries. However, Jacox didn’t walk away unscathed. Sheriff Ivey noted that Jacox sustained a severe eye injury during the scuffle, humorously attributing it to either self-defense from the victims or “friendly fire from the haymakers his girlfriend was throwing.”
The Aftermath and Charges
Sheriff Ivey didn’t mince words when addressing the couple’s behavior, placing the blame entirely on alcohol and a severe lack of common sense.

“The moral of the story,” Ivey shared on social media, “if you can’t hold your liquor, then you definitely shouldn’t be out in public causing a scene like this and injuring random people including a child!!”
Following the ship’s return to Port Canaveral, the couple was escorted to what the sheriff jokingly called an “expensive shore excursion” to “Ivey’s Iron Bar Lodge”—the Brevard County Jail.
Current Charges:
- Gannon Jacox: Charged with burglary with battery and child abuse without great bodily harm. Held on a $31,000 bond.
