U.S. President Donald Trump has given Hamas a Sunday deadline to respond to his newly proposed 20-point Gaza peace plan, warning that failure to accept the deal will trigger an unprecedented military offensive. The ultimatum, announced late Friday on Trump’s Truth Social platform, marks one of the most forceful statements of his presidency since the Gaza conflict reignited in 2023.

In a post written largely in capital letters, Trump declared:

“If this LAST CHANCE agreement is not reached, all HELL, like no one has ever seen before, will break out against Hamas. THERE WILL BE PEACE IN THE MIDDLE EAST ONE WAY OR THE OTHER.”

The president said Hamas fighters were “surrounded and militarily trapped” and that U.S. and allied forces were “ready to act” if the militant group failed to comply by 6 p.m. Washington time on Sunday. “They are just waiting for me to give the word ‘GO,’ for their lives to be quickly extinguished,” he warned, adding that Hamas leaders “will be hunted down and killed.”

On Sunday, the U.S. President issued what he called his “final warning” to Hamas, urging the group to accept a deal for the release of hostages held in Gaza

Trump also urged Gaza civilians to evacuate designated combat zones, assuring that humanitarian corridors would be provided and that civilians “will be cared for by those ready to help.”

Details of the 20-Point Gaza Plan

The Trump-Netanyahu peace proposal, unveiled earlier this week in Washington alongside Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu, seeks to bring a “permanent end” to hostilities while restructuring post-war governance in Gaza.

The plan includes the following major elements:

1. Immediate ceasefire between Israel and Hamas.

2. Full disarmament of Hamas and other militant factions.

3. Release of all remaining Israeli and foreign hostages held in Gaza.

4. Establishment of a temporary governing committee to administer Gaza for a 12-month transition period.

5. Leadership of the committee by Trump himself, with participation from international figures including former U.K. Prime Minister Tony Blair.

6. Gradual demilitarization of border areas and deployment of international peacekeepers.

7. Economic reconstruction plan financed by the U.S., Gulf countries, and European Union.

According to U.S. officials, the proposal does not require a mass civilian evacuation, but it would allow surviving Hamas members to leave Gaza peacefully if they surrender their weapons. The White House has called the plan “the most comprehensive and enforceable pathway to Middle East peace in a generation.”

Reactions from Hamas and the Region

A Hamas spokesperson said Tuesday that the group was “studying the proposal seriously,” but no official response has been issued. Trump’s new deadline, however, places intense pressure on the militant leadership to decide within 48 hours.

Regional analysts say the ultimatum signals that Trump’s patience is running out. “This is Trump’s version of gunboat diplomacy,” said one Middle East security expert. “He’s offering a deal but pairing it with the threat of overwhelming force if it’s rejected.”

Israeli Prime Minister Benjamin Netanyahu welcomed the ultimatum, calling it “a historic opportunity to finally dismantle Hamas and restore lasting security to Israel.” He praised Trump for “standing firm” and for what he called “unwavering moral clarity.”

Meanwhile, several Arab nations, including Egypt, Jordan, and Qatar, have urged restraint and called for humanitarian protections to remain central to any agreement. European diplomats have privately expressed concern about Trump’s aggressive tone, warning that a new large-scale offensive could trigger a wider regional escalation.

Trump’s Peace Gamble

The president’s approach reflects his signature mix of brinkmanship and deal-making. Trump has repeatedly emphasized that his goal is “peace through strength”, insisting that Hamas must accept “total disarmament or total destruction.”

“This is their final chance,” Trump said earlier this week. “They can choose peace and survival — or war and annihilation.”

With Sunday’s deadline fast approaching, the world now waits to see whether Hamas will accept Trump’s terms — or whether the Middle East could face yet another round of devastating conflict.
