Eight days before its release, Dhurandhar: The Revenge has already made history. Ranveer Singh’s highly anticipated spy thriller is not even in theatres yet, and it has already shattered Bollywood’s advance booking records.
Ticket prices for paid previews have shot through the roof — crossing Rs 3100 in Mumbai and Rs 2400 in Delhi — and fans are still lining up to buy. This is not just buzz. This is a box office phenomenon unfolding in real time.
Paid Previews Begin March 18
Dhurandhar 2 is slated for a wide release across India on March 19, 2026. However, paid preview shows are set to begin on the evening of March 18, with many theatres scheduling multiple screenings starting as early as 4 PM. These preview shows have become the most talked-about tickets in Indian cinema right now — and the prices are making people do a double take.
Multiplexes in major metro cities are charging between Rs 600 and Rs 900 for regular format seats at the preview shows. IMAX tickets have crossed the Rs 1000 mark in several territories. Premium luxury recliner seats are in a completely different league altogether.
The most expensive ticket currently listed in India is at the INOX Megaplex in Borivali, Mumbai, where recliner seats are priced at a jaw-dropping Rs 3100. In the national capital, PVR Select City Walk in Delhi is charging Rs 2400 for recliners. These are extraordinary numbers, even by the standards of premium multiplex pricing in India.
Sold Out Despite the Cost
What makes this story even more remarkable is that most of these shows, at these steep prices, are already sold out or nearly full.
Indian moviegoers are clearly not letting ticket prices stand between them and Ranveer Singh’s return as a spy. The demand is so strong that availability is becoming a bigger concern than affordability for many fans.
The average ticket price for the original Hindi version of Dhurandhar 2 stands at Rs 418, which is roughly double the standard price for a regular Bollywood release. For the premium DOLBY CINE format, that average climbs to Rs 759. Even the dubbed regional versions are trending higher than usual, with the Kannada version averaging Rs 445 and the Telugu version at Rs 230.
Only the Tamil dubbed version has managed to keep prices relatively grounded at Rs 166, largely because of regional price caps in place.
Advance Booking Numbers Tell the Real Story
Beyond the ticket prices, the advance booking figures are what truly signal the scale of anticipation surrounding this film. With eight days still to go before the paid previews, Dhurandhar 2 has already sold close to three lakh tickets across India. That translates to over Rs 15 crore in advance booking revenue domestically — making it the highest-grossing premiere in Bollywood history.
The film is now within striking distance of breaking the all-India premiere record of Rs 25 crore, which is currently held by Pawan Kalyan’s OG. Given the pace at which bookings are moving, that record could fall well before March 18 even arrives.
What Is Dhurandhar 2 About?
Directed by Aditya Dhar, the man behind the original blockbuster, Dhurandhar: The Revenge brings back Ranveer Singh in the role of an Indian spy operating inside Pakistan. The film reunites Dhar and Singh after the massive success of the first installment, which earned a staggering Rs 1300 crore worldwide and became the second-highest-grossing Bollywood film of all time.
The sequel boasts a powerful ensemble cast alongside Ranveer Singh, including R Madhavan, Arjun Rampal, Sanjay Dutt, Danish Pandor, Rakesh Bedi, and Sara Arjun. With Aditya Dhar’s reputation for delivering tightly scripted, high-intensity action narratives, expectations for the sequel have been sky-high since its announcement.
A New Benchmark for Bollywood
What is happening with Dhurandhar 2 is not just about one film performing well at the box office. It represents a shift in how audiences are engaging with big Bollywood releases.
Fans are willing to pay premium prices, plan weeks in advance, and fight for seats in sold-out shows. That kind of enthusiasm was once reserved almost exclusively for pan-India blockbusters from the south.
Bollywood is clearly reclaiming its blockbuster identity. And if the advance booking numbers hold, Dhurandhar: The Revenge could be the film that sets the new standard for what a mega Bollywood opening truly looks like.
All eyes are now firmly on March 18, and the wait feels electric.
