Thailand and Cambodia Fight for Third Day – Over 500,000 People Run from Homes

December 10, 2025 – America News World

Heavy fighting between Thailand and Cambodia has continued for three days. Soldiers from both countries are shooting rockets, artillery, and using fighter jets across the border. More than 500,000 men, women, and children have left their homes to stay safe.

In Thailand, the army says over 400,000 people were moved to safe places in seven provinces. A hospital in Surin province had to hide patients in a bunker after rockets landed nearby. Many schools and villages are now empty.

In Cambodia, more than 100,000 people fled to shelters or family homes in five provinces. People are sleeping under blue plastic sheets because they have no tents. They say there is not enough food or water, and they are very scared.

Both sides blame each other for starting the new war. Thailand says Cambodia fired first and put new landmines on Thai land. Cambodia says Thai jets and guns attacked civilian areas first.

This is the worst fighting since July 2025, when many people also died and hundreds of thousands had to run away. That time, U.S. President Donald Trump called the leaders and helped stop the war for a short time.

Now President Trump says again, “I will make a phone call and stop this war. Who else can stop a war with one phone call?” He said this at a big meeting in Pennsylvania on Tuesday night.

But right now, neither country wants to talk. Thailand’s Foreign Minister says there is no point in talks yet. Cambodia’s leaders say they will keep fighting back hard.

Human Rights Watch says the war is getting worse very fast. They are worried because both sides are using big rockets that can hit far away and sometimes hit the wrong places. Even the evacuation camps are not 100% safe.

The problem started many years ago because of an old border line from the time when France controlled Cambodia. Both countries say some ancient temples and land belong to them. Small fights have happened many times before.

Because of the war, Cambodia pulled its athletes out of the Southeast Asian Games that are happening in Thailand right now. The games are a big sports event for the region.

Thousands of people on both sides of the border are living in fear. They do not know when they can go home or if their houses are still there. Everyone hopes the fighting stops soon.

President Trump says he will call the leaders again in the next hours or days. Many people around the world are watching to see if one phone call can really stop the shooting.
