Kolkata Wins by Eight Wickets
Kolkata Knight Riders (KKR) secured their first victory of the tournament with an all-round performance, defeating Rajasthan Royals (RR) by eight wickets. The match was played at the Barsapara Cricket Stadium in Guwahati on Wednesday.
Batting first, Rajasthan posted 151 runs for nine wickets in 20 overs. Chasing 152 runs, KKR got off to a strong start with Moeen Ali and Quinton de Kock forming a 41-run partnership for the first wicket. Moeen Ali was run out by Maheesh Theekshana.
After his dismissal, Quinton de Kock was joined by captain Ajinkya Rahane. The duo added 29 runs in 24 balls. Rahane was caught by Tushar Deshpande off Wanindu Hasaranga’s bowling on the first ball of the 11th over. He scored 18 runs off 15 balls.
Following Rahane’s wicket, wicketkeeper-batsman de Kock was supported by impact player Angkrish Raghuvanshi. Together, they built an unbeaten 83-run partnership to secure victory for KKR. De Kock remained not out on 97, while Raghuvanshi scored 22*. Apart from Hasaranga, no Rajasthan bowler could take a wicket.
