IndiGo, India’s largest airline by market share, is strengthening its international footprint with the launch of a new daily direct service connecting Mumbai to Denpasar, Bali. The flights will commence on October 18, 2025, providing Indian travelers with enhanced access to one of Southeast Asia’s most popular leisure destinations.
This new route marks IndiGo’s second daily connection to Bali, complementing the airline’s existing Bengaluru–Denpasar service. Together, these flights position the carrier as a key player in linking India’s busiest metros with Indonesia’s top tourism hotspot.
The Mumbai–Bali route will be operated with an Airbus A320 aircraft, well-suited for the short-to-medium haul sector. Bookings have already opened across IndiGo’s official website, mobile application, and through its network of authorized travel partners.

Bali has consistently ranked among the most visited tourist destinations for Indians seeking international leisure travel. Known for its pristine beaches, vibrant culture, yoga retreats, and wedding venues, Bali attracts thousands of visitors every year. Its relaxed visa-on-arrival policy for Indian passport holders has further boosted its popularity.
“With the launch of daily flights to Bali from Mumbai, in addition to Bengaluru, IndiGo now connects two major metros to Bali, an increasingly popular leisure destination for relaxation and exploration. We are certain that customers will appreciate having these increased options to fly with India’s preferred carrier to Bali,” said Vinay Malhotra, Head of Sales at IndiGo, in a company statement.

Malhotra further highlighted Bali’s appeal as a destination rich in spiritual sites, natural wonders, and wellness experiences, making it especially attractive to Indian families, honeymooners, and solo travelers.
This development is part of IndiGo’s broader strategy to expand its international operations. With more than 400 aircraft in its fleet, the airline currently operates around 2,200 flights daily, connecting over 90 domestic and 40 international destinations.
The year 2024 was a milestone for the airline, as it inducted 58 new aircraft, strengthening capacity and enabling more routes. In FY2025 alone, IndiGo flew 118 million passengers, reaffirming its dominance in both domestic and regional markets.
Recognition for its customer service and operational efficiency has also been growing. At the World Airline Awards 2025, IndiGo was named the “Best Airline in India and South Asia” by aviation rating agency Skytrax.
Industry experts note that Mumbai, as India’s financial capital and busiest aviation hub, plays a pivotal role in expanding direct international air connectivity. With the new Mumbai–Bali flights, IndiGo is expected to capture significant passenger traffic from Western India, reducing the reliance on connecting flights via Bengaluru, Singapore, or Kuala Lumpur.
For Bali, the new route further opens doors to India’s high-spending outbound tourism market. According to recent estimates, Indians are among the top five international visitor groups to Bali, and the numbers are expected to rise with increased direct flight options.
The IndiGo expansion also mirrors the strengthening of India–Indonesia people-to-people connections. Both nations share cultural ties rooted in history, religion, and trade, with Bali being home to a significant Hindu population.
The tourism sector in Indonesia has actively promoted Bali to Indian travelers, leveraging cultural similarities, wellness tourism, and affordable luxury experiences. With improved connectivity, stakeholders expect Indian arrivals to Indonesia to grow rapidly in the coming years.
Passengers traveling on IndiGo’s Mumbai–Denpasar route can expect competitive fares and seamless service, hallmarks of the airline’s low-cost model. The flight schedules are designed to offer convenient departure and arrival times, allowing travelers to maximize their holiday time in Bali.
IndiGo emphasized that tickets are available for booking across multiple platforms, including the airline’s website (www.goIndiGo.in), the IndiGo mobile app, and authorized travel agencies.
As Indian outbound travel continues to surge post-pandemic, airlines are ramping up international capacity to meet demand. IndiGo’s focus on Bali reflects a broader trend of strengthening routes to Southeast Asia, a region that is affordable, visa-friendly, and culturally resonant for Indian tourists.
Industry analysts believe that IndiGo’s success with these Bali routes could pave the way for additional connections to other Indonesian cities such as Jakarta, Surabaya, or Lombok in the near future.
For now, the Mumbai–Denpasar flight is expected to significantly boost tourism, trade, and cultural exchanges between India and Indonesia, while giving Indian travelers greater convenience and choice.
Founded in 2006, IndiGo has rapidly grown into one of the world’s largest low-cost carriers. With a focus on on-time performance, affordable fares, and a hassle-free travel experience, the airline has become the preferred choice for millions of passengers in India and abroad.
With its latest expansion to Bali, IndiGo not only reaffirms its dominance in the Indian aviation market but also signals its ambitions to become a stronger player in the global low-cost airline segment.
