India Slams Killing of Gaza Journalists in Israeli Strike as Shocking
India has spoken out against a deadly Israeli strike in Gaza. The attack killed five journalists. It happened at Nasser Hospital in Khan Younis. The Ministry of External Affairs called it “shocking and deeply regrettable.” This was on August 27, 2025. The strike took place on Monday, August 25, 2025. It killed at least 20 people. Among them were journalists working for big news outlets.
India has condemned the killing of five journalists in an Israeli strike on Gaza’s Nasser hospital, calling the incident “shocking and deeply regrettable.
Moreover, the journalists included Mariam Abu Dagga. She freelanced for the Associated Press. Mohammed Salama worked for Al Jazeera. Moaz Abu Taha contributed to Reuters. Ahmed Abu Aziz was also among the dead. Another journalist died in a separate attack that day. The loss sparked global outrage.
The Ministry’s spokesperson, Randhir Jaiswal, shared India’s stance. He said, “The killing of journalists is shocking and deeply regrettable. India has always condemned loss of civilian lives in conflict.” He noted Israel is investigating. However, many question the attack’s intent. Israel claims it targeted a Hamas camera at the hospital. They say six of the dead were militants. Hamas denies this.
Furthermore, the strike was a “double-tap” attack. This means a second hit came after the first. It targeted rescuers and journalists rushing to help. The UN called it a breach of international law. Nearly 200 journalists have died in Gaza since October 2023. This makes it one of the deadliest places for reporters.
Here’s a table showing journalist deaths in Gaza over recent years:

Data from Committee to Protect Journalists and UN reports. Highlight: 2025 data is partial but shows ongoing danger.
Additionally, a graph would show this clearly. Imagine a bar chart. Each bar represents a year. The 2024 bar is the tallest. It’s easy to read on phones or computers.
On Quora, users ask why journalists are targeted. Some say it’s to silence reporting. Others think it’s accidental in war zones. Reddit threads show anger. Many call for accountability. One user wrote, “Hospitals and journalists should be safe.” Another noted Israel bans foreign media from Gaza. This fuels debate.
Moreover, India’s stance matters globally. The country first backed Israel after Hamas’s 2023 attacks. But now, it calls for peace. India pushes for a two-state solution. It also wants humanitarian aid for Gaza. This shift reflects global pressure. The UN and others demand probes into such strikes.
