Elon Musk reacts to dire wolf de-extinction and shares his wish for a miniature woolly mammoth pet. Read more on America news world

Los Angeles, CA – Elon Musk, the world’s richest man, is buzzing with excitement. A company called Colossal Biosciences claims it has brought dire wolves back from extinction. These creatures vanished over 10,000 years ago. Now, Musk can’t stop talking about it. He even shared his next big dream: a miniature woolly mammoth as a pet. His reaction has taken the internet by storm, and fans are loving it.

Transitioning to the details, Musk posted on X about this wild breakthrough. He shared two striking images. First, a Time Magazine cover with a white wolf and the word “Extinct” crossed out. Second, a cool edit of two dire wolf pups lounging on the Game of Thrones Iron Throne. That show made dire wolves famous, after all.

Meanwhile, Colossal Biosciences revealed they’ve revived three cubs. The two males, Romulus and Remus, are six months old. The female, Khaleesi, is just two months. Named after Game of Thrones characters, these pups are a jaw-dropping feat. Musk called a video of them howling “cool.” Then, he reshared his post, adding, “Please make a miniature pet woolly mammoth.” Fans went wild.

What’s the Big Deal?

Dire wolves aren’t just a fantasy anymore. Colossal Biosciences used ancient DNA and gene-editing tech to bring them back. This is being called the “world’s first de-extinction.” The company says it’s rewriting history with CRISPR technology. Pretty groundbreaking, right?

However, not everyone’s convinced. Vincent Lynch, a biologist from the University at Buffalo, told the Associated Press, “All you can do now is make something look superficially like something else.” He wasn’t part of the project but doubts it’s a full revival. Still, the cubs—Romulus, Remus, and Khaleesi—are real and living on a secret 2,000-acre site in the U.S.

Musk’s Mammoth Wish Sparks Buzz

Elon Musk’s plea for a mini woolly mammoth stole the spotlight. Fans flooded X with replies. One wrote, “Yes! I’m still waiting for the micro hippopotamus.” Another begged, “Please make Jurassic Park.” A third gushed, “Omg, yes, I’d love a Dire Wolf too. They’re beautiful.” Clearly, Musk’s fans are dreaming big.

Transitioning to the science, Colossal Biosciences isn’t stopping here. They’ve already made “woolly mice” with mammoth traits. Their next goal? Bringing back the woolly mammoth by 2028. Musk’s wish might not be so far-fetched after all.

The Science Behind the Story

How did they do it? Colossal used DNA from dire wolf fossils—some 13,000 years old. They tweaked 20 genes in gray wolves to match dire wolf features. Think white fur, big jaws, and strong bodies. The result? Three healthy pups born via surrogate dogs. Check out this graph:
