ISLAMABAD, Pakistan – A fierce attack by Tehrik-e-Taliban Pakistan (TTP) militants has left seven Pakistani soldiers dead, including a brave army captain, in the troubled Khyber Pakhtunkhwa province. The clash happened on October 29, 2025, in the remote Sultan Kalay area of Kurram district, near the Afghan border.

Sources say the militants launched a surprise assault with bombs and heavy gunfire. They targeted a group of soldiers on patrol. Captain Noman, a key officer, was among those killed. At least 17 other troops were wounded in the intense fight that lasted hours. Pakistani forces fought back hard, but the TTP’s coordinated strike caused heavy losses.

The mastermind behind the raid is likely Ahmad Kazim, known as the “TTP Field Marshal.” He leads deadly operations in Kurram and has a 10 crore Pakistani rupee (about $360,000) bounty on his head. Officials blame him for killing over 100 security personnel in recent years. TTP, a Taliban-linked group, often hits military posts to challenge Pakistan’s control in border areas.

This attack follows a week of clashes. Last week, Pakistani police killed eight TTP fighters and injured five in an operation in Lakki Marwat district. Tensions are high due to fights with Afghan Taliban and unrest in Pakistan-occupied Kashmir (PoK). The region sees more terror strikes as groups like TTP grow bolder.

A recent Counter-Terrorism Department (CTD) report paints a grim picture. From January to October 22, 2025, terrorism claimed 298 lives in Khyber Pakhtunkhwa – 117 police and 181 civilians. Another 486 people were hurt. In response, security forces ran 2,366 raids, arresting 1,124 suspects and killing 368 militants. Over 6,181 people face terror charges this year.

Experts say Pakistan’s border woes are worsening. The government vows to crush TTP, but attacks keep coming. Families of the fallen soldiers mourn as the nation braces for more violence. World leaders watch closely, fearing spillover into Afghanistan and beyond.
